We finally met our precious baby boy today!!
After arriving at Eastern Social Welfare Society at 9:40 am this morning (with the help of our new, wonderful Korean friend, Jay....more on him later), we were taken into a computer room to complete some paperwork. Our Korean social worker kept saying that Josiah YeJoon "is the MOST handsome baby she has ever seen". We completely agree. ;-)
She then lead us into the "playroom" where we got our cameras ready (Jay was wonderful and maned the video camera, which was SO awesome!!). Josiah's foster dad was holding him as they walked through the door.
Here is our first glimpse of each other....
The foster mother is hidden behind the father in the photo. She was quite emotional, as expected, but kept looking at Josiah and pointing to me saying "Omma" (Mother) and smiling at him through her tears.
Josiah came to me very easily and played with toys on the soft ground. He would stare at me and Josh, studying us so intently.
Josiah is just perfect. He is calm and sweet and gentle. His comfort item is the little blue blankie we sent to him in his care package a few months ago. You can tell he loves it as he kept snuggling his little nose in it. So precious!!
Isn't he just the sweetest thing ever?!?
It is incredibly obvious how well loved and taken care of Josiah YeJoon is by his foster parents. What a huge blessing this is to us!! We are forever thankful to them for loving him so dearly these past 10 months. It wil be VERY VERY hard for the 3 of them when it's time for them to say good-bye. I'm getting all teary-eyed just thinking about it now.
We were thrilled beyond words to receieve a photo album from them filled with photos of Josiah with captions! What an amazing gift to have these....for us and most importantly for Josiah so he can look back on the time he spent with them in Korea.
Daddy was the one getting all of the smiles and giggles out of our son today! Josiah thought he was pretty funny.
Talk about melting my heart! I'm a HUGE puddle after seeing Josh and Josiah together. Look at my two favorite men....
Josiah's hair is thick and dark and sticks up every-which way. Love it!
After about 30 minutes into our visit, our social worker and the foster family left the room to give the 3 of us time together as a family. Josiah would occasionally look around for them, but never cried. He was content to be held, play with toys, snuggle his "lovie", and be entertained by his daddy.
Josh is already an amazing father. These 2 certainly have a tight hold on my heart....
Josiah loved looking at and tugging on my "Josiah" necklace that Josh gave me for Mother's Day....
To say that we are absolutely positively incredibly IN LOVE with our baby boy is an understatement....
When the foster family came back into the room, Josiah spotted them right away and started to whine and reach for them. The foster dad then took him and put him in a front style carrier - adorable! The foster mother started to cry after we hugged. I just kept thanking her over and over and over. We then said our good-byes and will meet again at the agency on Thursday at 4:00 pm (Korea time, so that will be early Thursday am for you in the US).
Our hearts are overflowing with love and joy right now. We are finally complete. We have waited so long for this day to come and it has been worth every single second, every single struggle. Josiah has always been meant to be our child and we are blessed to be his parents. The Lord's hand brought us together.....only He could of made this happen. To HIM be the glory!!
It's getting late here, so we're off to bed now. Looking forward to another fantastic day in Seoul. We have fallen in love with Korea. It is truly the most special place I've ever visited. My heart has found a home here.......and a son.
