We are HOME!!!

I know that there are some folks out there wondering how we're doing, so I wanted to make a post to let you know we are home safe and sound!

Monday was a day filled with two extremes....sadness over leaving Josiah's incredible birth country and intense joy over finally being together as a family of 3. Saying good-bye to his foster family was heartbreaking, but fast as we were quickly whisked away in the van to the airport.

This teary eyed Mama holding my little boy (just an FYI, they don't use carseats in Korea).....

Leaving Korea 3

He snuggled right in with Daddy....

Leaving Korea 1

Taking one last look at beautiful Korea...

Leaving Korea 7

He was an absolute rock star on the 13 hour plane ride....never cried once, but played and slept and charmed other passengers as we walked the aisles. (Speaking of the plane, Hello to Jason, his mom, and especially sweet Jayne Riley, who was on our flight home with us!)

Here we are 9 hours into the flight. Very tired, but hanging in there....

Leaving Korea 5

My parents, Dean and Julie, aunt Jan, and cousin Emily were there to welcome us at the airport. It was a very special moment for everyone and the perfect way to celebrate my mom's birthday. My dad has all of the photos from that, so I'll post those when I get them. Josiah did SOOO great riding in his new carseat in the hour+ ride home.

1st time in carseat 1

Josiah is already showing preference to his daddy and especially me, which is a comfort for all of us. He is an excellent eater and despite the major time change and jet lag, he's slept like a trooper (as long as he's close to me), and keeps busy by exploring his new home.

Finally home 5

Finally home 3

So to sum the last 2 days up I'd have to say that Josiah is simply perfect. Such a happy, content, smiley, giggly boy. I've never seen such an easy going little one.

Oh, how we are blessed to have our precious boy with us. What sweet gift.

Finally home 1Align Center

Wouldn't you say?!?

I'm off to get some shut eye while I can and snuggle my sleeping little peanut. MANY more photos and stories to come....

Also, reading about your journey has really put adoption on my mind, and heart. 27. I remember the first moment I realized we were all HOME. It's such a special time, but also rather hard. Take care of yourselves and let others cook for you. Friends and family - if you are reading this - COOK FOR THEM! (And yes, I'm bossy in real life, too.)

So much change. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time, all of it, I'm sure. Motherhood, it's so exhausting and rewarding and hard and good and...

All of that said...I KNOW you're a GREAT mother, even while it's hard to see that amidst the fatigue.

    Peace to you...
