A Giveaway Worth a 100,000 Words

When I started this humble blog over a year and a half ago, I had no idea of the tremendous blessings that would come from it.

It began as a way to record our adoption process and from there it served as a hub that brought about new friendships and connections for me. It's allowed me to release and laugh and learn and grow.

Amongst the oodles of posts (most of which can be found BEFORE September of 2009....although I'm getting back into the groove now that I'm a *bit* more adjusted to being a new mama!) you can find anything from my thoughts on being an almost-Preacher's Wife to my love for cute flats to thoughts on adoption to joys and struggles that I face.

In His Hands just recently passed 100,000 hits...which proves to me that it's not only my mom reading my blog every week. ;-) So as promised, this milestone calls for a special little giveaway.

Have you heard of
Blurb???

If you haven't, you need to hightail it over to
the site right this instant. Or whenever you get the chance. Or I'll just explain it to y'all...

Blurb is a fantastic company that allows you to use your own words and photos to create/author/design your very own book. Sweet, huh? And the possibilites are endless! My "wish list" of Blurb books include: our trip to Korea, Josiah's 1st year home with us, our wedding, etc. The site is very user friendly and the books are a snap to create. Oh, and you can also
"slurp" your blog into a book!!

If you're anything like me, you'll want to include lots and lots of photos in your book.

Ones like this one of my little man all bundled up for sledding in the Frozen Tundra...

Sledding in the Frozen Tundra

We all know the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"....so a WHOLE book filled with photos must be worth about 100,000 words, right?! (Or maybe I just came up with title that on a whim since the reason behind the giveaway is 'cause my blog got over 100,000 hits.) Anyway...

A $20 gift card to Blurb is up for grabs, my lovely friends. (Book
prices range from $12.95 to $59.95)

To enter to win, simply leave a comment on this post. And to avoid a slew of comments all saying "Pick me, pick me" (although I would totally say that, too!), feel free to ask any pressing questions you may have for me that I can answer in a later post. Or I suppose "Oooh, mememe!" is fine, too! If you'd like an extra entry in the drawing, go ahead and mention this giveaway on your blog and then come back to comment and let me know you did!

I'll randomly choose the gift card winner sometime on Tuesday, February 2!

Thank you for helping to make this whole blogging thing a ton of fun. I'm blessed to call so many of you friends....and I pray you'll stick around as I continue "to chat about growing our family, daily happenings, and life on the road to the ministry".

Blessings!!!

My question is "are you hoping to adopt again?" I think I know the answer - but in case not :)

Are you weirded out by 'lurkers' or new people commenting on your blog?

  5. Blurb sounds SO cool! I'll have to check it out for sure!

My question: Are there parts of motherhood that did not live up to any expectations you may have had about it.

Hmmm... question... What's the one Mommy Chore that you could really do without?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh my gosh...LOVE that sledding photo!! It is way cute!

My hubby and I made a blurb book for my parents for Christmas and it came out amazing. We called it "Eight of Eight." We picked the best eight photos we had of each of the eight grandchildren and made a huge coffee table book out of it. We actually made my Mom cry! ( now how do we top that next Christmas? :)

My question is a little personal, but I was wondering about your infertility story? My husband and I are going through that right now, and are considering adoption. If you don't want to answer, that is fine. I love your blog, and I love hearing about Josiah.

  25. sounds, great and fun, i'll have to check the sit out.
I do have a question, 'Do you get questions like, 'oh your son's so cute is he adopted?', or do people comment or wonder why he's a different nationality than you or your husband. Or have people been very nice about it. My 15 yr old niece is bi-racial and she's having a hard time lately with all the questions and comments. I just want to hug her all the time!! Thanks Becky

  27. That sledding picture is adorable, don't you just love the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man look, lol! (I just googled the Puft part and had no idea that is what it is, I always thought it was Puff, learn something new everyday!)

I do have a question and am curious how the attachment and bonding process was with Josiah. Was it what you expected?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi Rachel - Congrates on your 100,000 hit. I am one who has so enjoyed reading the journey and seeing the pictures of your adorable baby boy. You have been an inspiration to me through your humor and faith!!!!
Thanks dear friend - sign me up for your drawing. I looked at this "Blurb" thing through Sara's blog. Really looks like fun !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmmmm...I have never won anything so I would love to win your drawing. =) Question to ask you...why did you pick the name Josiah for your son?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I forgot - I have a question for you. If they asked Josh to go to a foreign country would you feel this is something you could handle.

This pastor's wife couldn't handle it. Joel had a call to Taiwan. Can't even imagine.
When Joel call his first call to Kentucky I thought that should of been of foreign call.
