lately

The last few weekends have been busy busy busy! Here's a recap of what we've been up to lately....

Remember in my Korea Trip Rewind post when I mentioned our new friend Pastor Kim? Well, he came to the US for a visit two weeks ago and we had the opportunity to see him and his wife! His church in Korea sends a large number of their teenagers to schools here that are associated with our church synod...including the highschool that I attended.

Our family of 3 and my parents were invited to have dinner with a big group of the students, host families, and the Kims. We were so happy to see and chat with them again! Pastor Kim kept giving Josiah kisses on the cheek and smiling at him....and at the end of the evening was tossing him up into the air as Si giggled. Very sweet.

It was special for us to make that connection to Korea again....it felt like home.

We look forward to seeing the Kims again, God-willing, on our next trip to Seoul!

One morning a few weeks ago, I got a text from Josh asking if I would go on a date with him (so romantic, right!?). Considering we hadn't been on a date since Josiah came home 7 months ago (crazy, I know!), I of course said Yes!

It turned out that we had date nights two weekends in a row. Both of our highschools were hosting festive fundraising galas and we were gifted tickets to attend each of them! Not only was it fantastic to have an evening out together, it was also wonderful to chat and laugh with friends without being constantly interrupted by a one year old! While we were out, Si was LOVING all the attention from either his auntie Kayla or his grandparents.

The theme of the event at Josh's old school was Around the World, so whenever Korea was mentioned our table would cheer and whoop and holler! And my alma mater celebrated the year the school opened - 1929, so folks were encouraged to dress in "20's" fashion. It was fun! Here were are at the end of the night all tuckered out since we're not used to staying up late anymore!

Finally, it was my Dad's 52nd birthday this weekend so my immediate family (and our Papa Del) got together to celebrate on Sunday. Josh was guest preaching at a church so we all went to the service together and then headed to my brother Jake's house. It was a fun day of eating way too much, chatting, and playing games. A perfect way to celebrate our dad! We love family time!
