Occasionally {read: daily}, I snap a whole big bunch of photos of Josiah in just minutes.

Overboard is a term one might use to describe this habit I've acquired.

I'm then left with a difficult task of weeding out at least a handful {or two or three} of the photos because no one really wants to browse through a series of 87 pictures of my Korean kiddo. Even if he is adorable in every single frame. ;-)

Perhaps posting just 13 photos is much more reasonable. Right?! Along with the promise that SiGuy is extremely cute in each of them. Overboard cute. Deliciously cute. {Or maybe it's the chocolate donut that's so yummy to look at}.....

I've got a boatload more snapshots just as scrumptious as these.

But I'm working on self control. You're welcome. :-)

As long as I'm on the topic of photos, I have a question for you. How do you organize yours? Do you print all of them out and stuff albums? Make photo books online? Organize them into boxes? And how often do you compile your albums? Monthly or yearly?

Or are you like me with thousands of images waiting on your computer {backed up, of course} begging to be shown off?? We're talking years and years worth.

I deserve a slap on the wrist.

I think the easiest {and most practical and efficient} way would be the online books, but there's something so nostalgic about flipping through the hand stuffed albums.

Finally, I need to just pick a system and go with it! It would be a shame to have all of our captured moments sitting on my laptop for the longest time.

Blessings on your week, friends!

  1. I literally have HUNDREDS of pictures of my kids each month. I save them all into folders by month. At the end of the year, I put them all into a folder of that year. Backed up, of course. As for printing, I put everything I love on the blog and then print the blog into a book at the end of every year. I also have made online photo books of special events (our trip to Korea, for example) and have those around. I used to scrapbook and then just went this route instead.

He sure is cute, though. Don't stop taking those pictures!

  2. So adorable! As for the picture, thing, I have the SAME problem! Will be curious to see what people say :-)

    Much love,
    Future Mama

  3. Si is so adorable and I LOVE the hat!!! I have the same issue! I am planning on making my blog into a book but would still like to make a traditional scrapbook. My issue is Time - don't have enough of it to get this done:-(

  4. I agree - those pictures are adorable! He is getting to be quite the little man.

And I still haven't figured out what to do about photos. I started family photo albums (print them off, stuff them in) but they take up so much room and really, I felt like I was missing something. I have been thinking about making a book of my blog, but that hasn't been as simple as I would have hoped, also because I have a number of pictures that aren't on my blog for various reasons (like bathtub photos - want to keep, don't need them on the blog). So, I'm leaning towards doing a digital photo book but have it be "just the highlights" of the family for that year. In addition, I do a book for each child. I have been scrapbooking these for now. My overall goal is to have photos to give to the kids when they are older that show their childhoods. And also have something for Paul and I to keep that includes the whole family.

But I agree - I have been thinking about this for a long time and I think I better just finally decide WHAT I am doing and do it! Because catching up is harder than staying on top of it, right??

  5. i can't stand it. he's so cute! that hat is adorable! and that donut looks fantastic.

like yours, my photos are just sitting around on my hard drive. uggh. we do have them backed up though. i used to scrapbook, but i just can't find the time or space anymore.

one day i hope to have books of each of our kiddos lives - i just don't know if they will be made into a book digitally, or will be an actual scrapbook.

  6. I've been lurking your blog for awhile. But I have to comment. I found this: article online a few months ago and follow her recommendations on backing up/storing photos (minus the flickr part -- I use snapfish). I'm also a digital scrapbooker and create pages to put into albums or just use templates to create photo books.

  7. First of all - how cute is Si!!! Love these pictures of him.

And I am ashamed to admit that over the last 6 years (since the arrival of a digital camera) we have accumulated over 10,000 pictures on our computer and have never printed a single one.

  8. Uh, I take way too many pictures and right now most of them are on my simple save and backed up on line. Yes, I am just as bad. It's cheaper to print them out by the way than to put them in photo books, because with as many photos as you are describing it could get very costly, READ: one book per day if you plan to use all the wonderful photos of your darling boy that you keep.

  9. I absolutely love your blog! Your pictures are great! It really makes me want a better camera than my little point and shoot...but...just can't justify the expense right now. Maybe I will put that on a wish list? What type of camera do you have?

  10. I LOVE these! Love the donut, the chocolate stained mouth, the hat, and the happy expressions on Si's face. I have the same problem with photos and I've enjoyed reading the advice here!

  11. I would look at all 87 pix that you'd post. Too cute, indeed.

As far as pix go, I do all of the above. Most importantly is backing them up. I save them in files on my computer by month. Then upload them online for ordering at the same time. I may or may not order right away. Books are always an option, as I have a handful of those, too.

  12. Oh my, I don't know how you narrowed it down!? He's so cute and some of those smiles are just priceless. He's looking like a teenager in his hip hat and camo sweatshirt...

  13. Oh, I love this series! Such a handsome boy, and such wonderful photos!

  14. I'm glad you didn't weed any of these out because I loved every single one of them. That boy has PERSONALITY! And you, my friend, are very, very good at capturing it through the lens.

Sigh ... photos. We have almost 30,000 sitting on our computer - organized by date in lightroom. I want to turn my blog into a book but haven't done a darn thing toward that goal. Then I think I should just make a digital book with the photos that highlight what we've been up to that year instead. Oh boy, my blood pressure is going up just thinking about the fact that I haven't done any of this stuff....

  15. cutest way to make me crave a chocolate donut EVER!!!

and, yes, i'm so with ya on the picture thing...we still have yet to put our honeymoon pictures in an album! i'm hoping i figure something out before carson graduates high school...;)

  16. These pictures are need to be shy about posting them. I think organizing the photos by month and then choosing your favorites at the end of the year for a "highlight" reel might be best. You can also make a Shutterfly book to show off some of your favorites!

  17. Oh Rach... I have the same problem. It's hard to stop when they are sooo cute, no?!

And these, well these are freaking fantastic!!

Let's talk photo stuff in a couple of weeks!? I've got some ideas I'd love to bounce off of you...
