june 28: this is the road

road
This is the road
that rolls out of town
past farms and fields
that leads to the Drive
that horse-shoes around
to the sweet yellow house
we'll soon call home.

Our abode is not overly big or fabulous or new, but it's ours. It's the place to hang our hats, lay down our heads, and put out jars with hand-plucked "flowers".

It's the perfect spot to kick back in an inflatable duck and munch on popcorn. You know, if that's your thing.

I'm excited about putting our touch on this house. The fresh, clean slate makes me a bit giddy. I have plans and ideas. When one pops into my head, I tell my hunky handyman sidekick and he just smiles and says Ok, no problem, anything you want. Or That's crazy. That'll never work. Dream on, Rachie. The former response is repeated most often, so my mind continues to go hog wild and I pin this and that so I won't forget.

I can't wait to sit under the tall tall trees in the big back yard and string a clothesline between them. Fill the house up with memories and invite friends to gather. Plant a garden with my purple thumbs and spray paint our sad looking patio set and the box of trinkets in need of makeovers. {This here is a heads-up that there's going to be a lot of before and after shots going on around here. Stay tuned, y'all!}

Before that can happen, though, these pesky boxes need to be packed up. Suitcases need to be packed, too, because an outrageously long road trip to Florida is in our very near future. A week with family and friends and even Mickey shall be enjoyed. Another looong drive back to MI will occur the day before we close on this new house of ours.

And then we move in. And paint. And unpack. And drop-from-exhaustion-to-our-newly-tiled-by-ThePreacherMan-kitchen-floor.

Easy peasy. ;-)

I can't wait!

  4. seriously can't wait to see your home through your eyes! How exciting to be planning and dreaming and preparing for the place that will be yours. And have a great time in Disney! As for long car trips - we know about them. And while they can be long, we have found that they hold incredible memories and are really very special times for all of us. Just don't forget the portable DVD player for when you all need a bit of a break :)
