31 Days to Shine :: Day 5, a truth that stings

There are a slew of sure ways to dim your light.

hurtful words.

And those are just the tip of the iceburg, y'all.

I have entertained all of them at some point. Sometimes on a daily basis. Each and every one. So have you. And you and you.

All too often we are stumbling blocks instead of shining lights.

We take it upon ourselves to decide who is good enough and who is not worth it. Sometimes without even thinking about it.

We withhold love and help from some because it's not a priority in our busy lives. Or because we don't think to think of them.

We point fingers like know-it-alls instead of sharing Truth in love.

The saddest, scariest, ugliest part? Sometimes we truly believe we are sharing Jesus, but really we're just full of it. We say we are for Jesus and his Kingdom, but the way we go about showing others their sin and their Savior is all wrong. In turn we drive those searching for the Light far, far away. Why would they want to be a part of something like that?

Let's take our cue from Micah 6:8....

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

A far cry from the list above, huh?

Thanks to be Jesus for redeeming us from ourselves and our selfish, hurtful tendencies.

The song below is one I listen to each day. Because heaven knows I need the reminder. It's packed with convictions that sting and truths we need to cling to and pray for.

Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly.

Shine for Him, friends.

  1. I love that verse but not how far away we get from it at times. Great post. You are shining.
